Why Being Lucky Is a Lot of Work

Mikkel Svane started a company called Zendesk with two friends in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2007 where it was originally based out of a small loft before it managed to raise funding. Since then it has gone from stength to strength establishing itself as one of the most popular customer support platforms in the world with 500 employees. In May 2014 it went public in an IPO and currently has a market cap of $1.74 billion. At Techcrunch’s Disrupt conference he spoke to Alexia Tsotsis about his early struggles, why optimizing for the market is a terrible idea, and what gets him out of bed in the mornings.
