The Value of Terrible Ideas
We covered the incredible success of startup accelerator Y Combinator in our post here and Justin Kan (who is now a partner there) was one of the first entrepreneurs to be supported by their program. He is a serial entrepreneur and has built several businesses however the startup he is perhaps best known for is Justin.tv which was acquired by Amazon for $970 million earlier in the year and spawned the hugely successful live video streaming platform Twitch. After being adopted by the video-gaming community it now has millions of people watching live streams every day leading to the main Justin.tv website being shut-down so that the team could focus on what was initially a spin-off website. In this video from Techcrunch’s Disrupt conference Justin talks with Matthew Panzarino about the future of streaming, how he invests in the people not just their startups as well as the importance of Silicon Valley.
